Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The Artsy Reader Girl original title for April 7: Books I Bought/Borrowed Because… (Fill in the blank. You can do 10 books you bought for the same reason, i.e., pretty cover, recommended by a friend, blurbed by a favorite authors, etc. OR you could do a different reason for each pick.).

Well, talking about my taste, like any other aspect of my life, such as Top 40 for music, Top 10 box office for Movie, sometimes (OFTEN) I bought a book because of *cough*it's hype*cough*, but and then it will lie down on my TBR for hundred-and-hundred years. Untouched. Unread.

OMG.

These are the books that I'm talking about:

1. A Little LIfe by HANYA YANAGIHARA.
2. Throne of Glass series and A Court of Thorns and Roses series by SARAH J. MAAS.
3. We Were Liars by E. LOCKHART.
4. Six of Crows duology by LEIGH BARDUGO.
5. Call Me by Your Name by ANDRE ACIMAN.
6. Ti Amo, Tia Amora by KARLA M. NASHAR.
7. Vicious by V.E. SCHWAB.
8. Musashi and Taiko by EIJI YOSHIKAWA.
9. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. SALINGER.
10. Girl on the Train and Into the Water by PAULA HAWKINS.

Shame on me!

[Top Ten Tuesday] Inspirational/Thought-Provoking Book Quotes

It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The Artsy Reader Girl original title for April 30: Inspirational/Thought-Provoking Book Quotes.

For me, diction is the most important part of the book. I'll stop reading or throw away--literally--a book if its diction doesn't meet my expectation. So, yeah, I'll always love an inspirational/thought-provoking book quotes, so here they are:

1. Resign! by Almira Bastari

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The Artsy Reader Girl original title for April 23: (First Ten) Books I Reviewed ((These do not have to be formal reviews. A small sentence on a retailer site or Goodreads counts, too! Submitted by Rissi @ Finding Wonderland)).

At first glance, I'll ask www.goodreads.com for help, but then I realized that my first review didn't appear on that platform yet. So I went to my first ten books I reviewed on this blog, and here they are:

And, if you wanna know how bad I am as a reviewer back to 2008-2009 ago, here they are:

[Top Ten Tuesday] Enam hal absurd tentang buku yang saya lakukan...

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The Artsy Reader Girl original title for April 9: Outrageous/Crazy/Uncharacteristic Things I’ve Done for the Love of Books (i.e. skipped meals, camped outside a bookstore, broke up with someone because they don’t like to read, traveled long distances to bookish events, etc. – submitted by Aggie’s Amygdala).

As a reader, and also a book hoarder, sometimes I do crazy things... well, not everything I've done could be categorized as love for books. I just think what I've done are crazy about book only because it's beyond crazy such as:

1. Banned some Authors because of their behavior. I know you'll say:
Hey, you need to distinguish personal things from their works.
But, again, I'm only human who have a heart, a sensitive one. So if an author does disgusting things (i.e. attacking reviewer, lying, plagiarizing, doing bad political campaign, etc), it breaks my heart and makes me not wanting to read their writing. Frankly, I have several name on my black list but on the top of my list right now is: Hanum Salsabiela Rais. There, I said her name. Gosh!

via GIPHY

2. Traveled long distances to buy a book. I went abroad several times only to buy books at Big Bad Wolf book sale events in Kuala Lumpur and at a bookstore at Bras Basah Complex Singapore.

3. Sat down and queued for about four or five hours only to get a free copy of The Silkworm (Cormoran Strikes #2, Indonesian edition) by J.K. Rowling, and the book is left unread till now. HAHAHAHAHA.

via GIPHY

4. Midnight shopping at Big Bad Wolf events (ICE BSD Serpong and Jatim Expo Surabaya).

via GIPHY

5. Shop hopping around Jabodetabek-Bandung. I remembered that around 2013 or 2014, it's unusual to find "Obralan Gramedia" or big discounted books which is hosted by one of the biggest bookstore chains in Jakarta, let alone in Indonesia, so I did shop hopping from Bintaro to Bekasi, Bandung to Pluit, West to East, South to North, to get find a surprise-discounted-book at one of those book sales.

6. Reading everywhere, anywhere, and anytime. I read while I'm jogging, I read while I'm on motorbike, anything.

via GIPHY

7. Okay, I can only think 6 of outrageous things that I've done for the love of books. I'll add another if I can recall another outrageous slash crazy slash stupid things that I've ever done.

What yours?

[Top Ten Tuesday] Sepuluh alasan saya membeli buku...

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The Artsy Reader Girl original title for April 2: Things That Make Me Pick Up a Book.

Well, as a book hoarder, do we really need a reason to hoard books? Hahaha, #juskidding. I mean, in many situations I feel like buying a book is just like buying anything just because of "need" or "want".

Anyway, if you still wanna know, what things that make me pick up a book, here are those things:
1. The Author.
Well, I am categorizing myself as a loyal reader. So, if I am already be a fans of an author, I'll buy and read anything form him/her. Check out my Top Ten Auto-Buy Author here.

2. The Writing Style.
...especially, the author's diction or the choice and use of words and phrases in speech or writing. No matter how popular or important story it is, if the writing style is "meh" for me, I'll skip it. Example: 5cm by Donny Dhirgantoro or Dilan by Pidi Baiq or Sabtu Bersama Bapak by Adhitya Mulya.

3. The Cover.
No caption needed, hahaha. I prefer book cover with real photograph (of humans) than with illustration. Like this one:

4. The Price.
I won't think twice while the price is damn cheap! Hell, yeah.

via GIPHY

5. The Hype.
I'm sucker for hype-books or chart-topper books or the most trending-books. My opinion: if most people like it, then I must like it too.

6. The Reviews.
...from my trusted source, off course, such as my readers' community friends: Goodreads Indonesia or Blogger Buku Indonesia, or from my fave Blogger or Booktuber such as Ginger from greadsbooks.com or Gabby from gabbyreads. I don't care with "Starred Review" thingy or a testimonial from a celebrity or another well-known authors or sponsored reviews. I think they are "fake" comments.

7. The Adaptation.
It only occurs one or two times a year for me. When I fell in love with the movie or TV adaptation, I'll try to read the book. Example: The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger or Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien or Pretty Little Liars by Sara Sheppard.

8. The Genre.
I'll buy (and read, maybe) anything for "Novel Metropop". OBVIOUSLY. But, only the originally novel metropop by Gramedia Pustaka Utama.

9. The Tittle.
If I have no other solid reasons, I'll pick a book just because of its tittle. Example: The Marriage Bureau for Rich People by Farahad Zama or Good Muslim Boy by Osamah Sami or The Dusty Sneakers by Teddy W. Kusuma & Maesy Ang.

10. The Color.
This is the least reason for hoarding books. I'm not good at color-matching, even I considered myself as color-blind person so I really don't care of rainbow shelf thingy.

Those are my top ten of things that make me pick up a book. Kalau kamu?

[Top Ten Tuesday] Sepuluh Buku WAJIB Baca Tiga Bulan Mendatang

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The Artsy Reader Girl original title for March 19: Books On My Spring 2019 TBR.

Ehm, actually this week's theme is really specific or some areas and won't suitable for another, such as for me who lived here in Indonesia. My country only has two seasons: Rainy and Dry season. And then, I am googling and finding that Springtime are (Spring season):

Thus, in the US and UK, spring months are March, April and May,[1][2] while in New Zealand[3] and Australia,[4] spring conventionally begins on September 1 and ends November 30.

Adjusting for our theme, I'll say: These are my Top Ten Books to be Read for March, April, and May:

1. Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren
2. Something Like Normal by Trish Doller
3. Scythe by Neal Shusterman
4. Dunia Nadhira by Alnira
5. But I Love You by Esi Lahur
6. Wonder by RJ Palacio
7. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
8. False Beat by Vie Asano
9. Ms. Bixby's Last Day by John David Anderson
10. Good Muslim Boy by Osamah Sami

So, what's on your TBR for the next three months?

[Top Ten Tuesday] Sepuluh Karakter yang Rela Saya Ganti-Perankan

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The Artsy Reader Girl original title for March 5: Characters I’d Like To Switch Places With (submitted by Sara @ A Gingerly Review).

Such a long time that I didn't participate in any kind of book meme, especially this one. Top Ten Tuesday is one of my favorite bookish meme out there. Tema minggu ini adalah "Characters I’d Like To Switch Places With" alias sepuluh karakter yang pengin banget saya tukar/ganti-perankan.

1. Harry Potter of Harry Potter the series by J.K. Rowling. Why? Do you still need a reason to be a Harry Potter? Seriously?
2. Nicholas Young of Crazy Rich Asians series by Kevin Kwan. I am currently reading the first book right now and already watched the movie, so the reason: wanna be that SUPER-CRAZY RICH so I can buy anything---especially-book-related-thingy.
3. Mamet of Ada Apa Dengan Cinta (movie-novelization by Silvarani). Well, I don't have any confidence to be Rangga, but I'd love to switch place with Mamet as long as I can come closer to Cinta :)
4. Hermione Granger of Harry Potter the series by JK Rowling. Uhmm, I just want to be a person who has THAT amazing academic brightness.
5. Akeelah Anderson of Akeelah (movie-novelization by James W. Ellison). Eventhough I don't have her awesome power to remember anything, I do really hype for the spelling bee competition.
6. Alif of tetralogi wartawan fashion by Syahmedi Dean. I used to have a dream to become a journalist on entertainment. I have no clue about fashion, but I think it's fabulous if I can attend one of he legendary fashion show in Milan or London or Paris.
7. Arsen of Song for Alice by Windry Ramadhina. Oh no, I don't want his story, hahaha... but I do love to have his charisma and charming character.
8. Jati Wesi of Aroma Karsa by Dee Lestari. I think it will be amazing if I have his nose. That's all. Hahaha.
9. Joshua Templeman of The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. I want to have friend-enemy like Lucy Hutton.
10. Peter Kavinsky of To All the Boys I've Love Before series by Jenny Han. You just no need a reason to be Peter K. Hahaha.

So, what characters you'd like to switch places with?

[Top Ten Tuesday] Sepuluh buku EMEJING yang kurang laku

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. The Broke and the Bookish original title for January 17: Ten Underrated/Hidden Gem Books I've Read In The Past Year Or So (up to you if you want it to be those published in the past year or so or just ANY underrated book you've read recently)

Well, saya bingung mau ngasih judulnya dalam bahasa Indonesia, akhirnya saya pakai istilah "kurang laku".

Hehehe.

1. Buku-bukunya Dewie Sekar, terutama Trilogi Zona dan Duologi Alita. They're AWESOME! Dewie Sekar on www.goodreads.com

2.  L by Kristy Nelwan
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4944389-l?ac=1&from_search=true

5. Natsuka by Destika (Dewi Sartika... OMG, ternyata ini pseudo-name-nya, tho, baru tahu)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8047185-natsuka?ac=1&from_search=true

6. Buku-bukunya Ken Terate, terutama seri My Friends, My Dreams sama Jurnal Jo

9. Diary Princesa by Swistien Kustantyana

10. Metamorfosa Oase by Retni SB
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1498470.Metamorfosa_Oase?ac=1&from_search=true

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. The Broke and the Bookish original title for January 26: Freebie Week! Pick a topic near and dear to your heart! Something you wished was on our official list!

Today should be a freebie week where I can post any topic outside the list. But, I kinda lost 'lil bit. So, I decide to arrange Top Ten Book Series That (Mostly) I Already Have But Don't Start Reading Them Yet. I guess it is close to Topic number 134: Top Ten Series I'd Like To Start, But Haven't Yet, which aired on 5th March, 2013. No biggie, right? I don't count the series which I already read even if only one or two books.

Okay, then, these are my Top Ten:
1. House of Night Saga by PC Cast ad Kristin Cast. I start collecting this series since I found one or two books at Periplus Book Sale long time ago, even before the Indonesian's version came out. And I still obsess to collect them all though I don't know when I start reading them.

2. Ther Melian by Shienny M.S. Because of Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, I became a newbie reader at fantasy genre. And, I heard my fellow fantasy readers said that Ther Melian tetra logy is one of the best local fantasy. I love mainstream, so I decide to buy them, though since the last time I bought Book 4--three years ago--I didn't start reading them yet. Ugh!

Well, once again I won't follow the exact topic of TTT for today. Because I didn't make any resoultion for 2015 so I'll drop my list of Top Ten Resolution for 2016 instead. Here they are:

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. The Broke and the Bookish original title: Top Ten Book To Movie Adaptations I'm Looking Forward To or Ten Book To Movie Adaptations I Still Need To Watch.

Can't wait!

[Top Ten Tuesday] Sepuluh novelis debutan yang bikin saya kepingin baca karya mereka yang lain...

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. The Broke and the Bookish original title: Top Ten Debut Authors Who Have Me Looking Forward To Their Sophomore Novel (because when you love a debut you just are ITCHING to get your hands on the author's second book) or Top Ten Sophomore Novels That I Loved Just As Much If Not More As The Author's Debut (no one hit wonders heeeere!)

1.  Citra Rizcha Maya, pengarang Confessions of a Silly Drama Queen
2.  Anggun Prameswari, pengarang After Rain
3.  D. Wijaya, pengarang Above the Stars
4.  Prima Santika, pengarang Three Weddings and Jane Austen
5.  Tia Widiana, pengarang Mahogany Hills
6.  Faris Rachman-Hussein, pengarang Dramaturgi Dovima
7.  Ayu Gendis, pengarang Reuni
8.  Novellina A., peengarang Fantasy
9.  Anastasia Aemilia, pengarang Katarsis
10. Intan Lui B., pengarang No Dinner Date

Share, donk!

[Top Ten Tuesday] 10 Wishes I'd Ask The Book Genie to Grant Me...

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. The Broke and the Bookish original title: 10 Wishes I'd Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me (a new book from a certain author,  a reading superpower, a library that is your absolutely #librarygoals, a character to come to life, to met a certain author etc. etc.) YOU DREAM IT AND THE BOOKISH GENIE CAN DO IT.

Oh, genie... genie in the bottle, grant me THESE SUPER WISHES, pleaseeee... I guess this time I'll write my top ten in English though maybe one or two wishes are local. By this, I'll summarize my wishes as MY WISHLIST and I'll try to make them REAL someday. So, here they are...

[Top Ten Tuesday] Sepuluh pengarang yang bukunya langsung saya beli begitu terbit [TANPA BANYAK PERTIMBANGAN]

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. The Broke and the Bookish original title: Top Ten Of Your Auto-buy Authors (no matter the genre or what it's about...you'll buy it from these authors!). If you want to get specific you can break it into genre especially since I know we did this topic in 2013.

The Broke and the Bookish original title: Ten Characters Who Are Fellow Book Nerds (love reading, are writers, work at a bookstore, etc.) (inspired by my Top Ten Characters Who Love Words)

Dalam istilah The Broke and the Bookish adalah Book Nerds. Ehmm, siapa saja, ya?

1. Senja (Heart Block by Okke Sepatumerah)

The Broke and the Bookish original title: Top Ten Hyped Books I've Never Read

Banyak faktor, sih.

Share donk!
